What to Look For
- Blade size. 7-1/4 and 8-1/2 inch saws are light and portable; 10 and 12 inch saws cut wider boards and taller crown.
- Sliding and dual bevel. Sliders cut wide stock. Dual bevel heads tilt both ways so you do not flip long pieces.
- Power. Cordless saws suit punch lists and remodel work; corded saws run all day in the shop.
- Footprint. Rail-less designs like the Bosch axial glide sit closer to a wall.

Miter Saws FAQ
10 inch or 12 inch miter saw?
A 10 inch saw is lighter and its blades cost less. A 12 inch sliding saw cuts wider boards and taller crown standing up. If you mostly cut trim and 2x material, a 10 inch slider covers it.
Is a cordless miter saw enough for trim work?
For most trim and finish work, yes. Saws like the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 7-1/4 inch and Festool Kapex KSC 60 are built for it. Choose a larger corded saw for wide hardwood and production cutting.
