Start with 20V MAX. It has the widest tool range and covers most framing, remodeling, and finish work. Add 12V MAX for light, compact tools. Move to FLEXVOLT 60V MAX when you need corded-level power for big saws, SDS MAX hammers, or yard equipment.
Do FLEXVOLT batteries work in 20V MAX tools?
Yes. FLEXVOLT 20V/60V MAX batteries switch voltage based on the tool, so they run both 20V MAX and 60V MAX tools. Standard 20V MAX batteries do not run 60V MAX tools. 12V MAX batteries are a separate system. See batteries and chargers.
What warranty does DeWALT offer?
DeWALT power tools under its standard warranty carry a 3-year limited warranty, a 1-year free service contract for maintenance and worn parts from normal use, and a 90-day money-back guarantee. Some products carry a 7-year limited warranty instead. Hand tools carry a limited lifetime warranty, and mechanics tools carry a full lifetime warranty with no receipt needed. Terms follow the warranty stated on each product, and coverage applies to the original purchaser from an authorized seller.
