Makita 40V max XGT is the high-output platform, aimed at tools that used to need a cord. This collection leans on cutting: 6-1/2 and 7-1/4-inch circular saws, rear handle saws in 7-1/4 and 10-1/4-inch, a 6-1/2-inch plunge track saw, and 8-1/2 and 12-inch dual-bevel sliding miter saws. It also includes a compact router, 3-1/4-inch planer, 6-inch random orbit sander, AVT orbital recipro saw, StarlockMax multi-tool, blowers, an inflator, and 2-piece and 4-piece combo kits. Nearly all are brushless.
What to Look For
- AWS capable. Many XGT saws, sanders, and planers support Makita's Auto-start Wireless System, which starts a paired dust extractor when the tool runs.
- Kit or tool only. M1 kits come with a 4.0Ah battery. Z models are tool only.
- Saw style. Rear handle saws suit framers. Sidewinder models are lighter for general cutting.
- Battery plan. XGT tools need XGT packs. Add a 5.0Ah or 8.0Ah pack for miter saws and blowers.

XGT or 18V LXT X2?
Both target heavy cutting. X2 tools use two 18V LXT batteries, so they make sense if you already own LXT packs. XGT tools run on a single 40V max battery. If you are starting fresh with large saws, one pack per tool is the simpler system.
What warranty covers Makita XGT tools?
Makita lithium-ion cordless tools, batteries, and chargers carry a 3-year limited warranty, with repair or replacement through a Makita Factory or Authorized Service Center. Makita also offers a 30-day return guarantee on its products, excluding accessories and wear items.
