Sanders and Polishers for Wood, Paint, and Drywall

This hub sorts every sander and polisher by pad shape and job. Random orbital sanders handle most wood and paint prep. Belt sanders take off stock fast. Sheet, detail, and drywall sanders handle corners, small parts, and walls. Top sellers include Festool ETS, ETS EC, and Rotex models, the Milwaukee M18 5-inch random orbit sander, M12 FUEL detail sanders, and the DeWALT 20V MAX XR 3 x 21 belt sander. Polishers finish the line for paint correction.

Random Orbital Sanders

The everyday sander for wood and paint. Choose 5" or 6" pads, corded or cordless. Options include the Festool ETS 125, the Makita XOB01Z 18V LXT, and the Milwaukee 2648-20 M18. Browse all random orbital sanders or the full Festool sander lineup.

Cordless Sanders

Battery sanders work where outlets are scarce. Pick from Milwaukee M18 and M12 FUEL, DeWALT 20V MAX XR, Makita 18V LXT, and Festool cordless models. Shop cordless sanders and add a pad and abrasives on the same platform.

Belt Sanders

Belt sanders flatten boards and strip old finish quickly. The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 3 x 18 and DeWALT DCW220B 3 x 21 handle wide work, while the M12 FUEL 1/2 x 18 bandfile reaches into tight gaps and scribe cuts.

Sheet and Finish Sanders

Square-pad sheet sanders reach into corners and run on cut paper. Finish sanders include fine-orbit models such as the Festool ETS EC 150/3 and the RTS 400 for the last passes before a coat.

Drywall and Detail Sanders

Festool Planex Easy and Planex 2.0 sand walls and ceilings with dust extraction. See drywall sanders. For small parts and tight spots, detail sanders include the Milwaukee M12 FUEL orbital and 3" random orbital models.

Polishers and Multi-Mode

Polishers cover rotary and random orbit machines for paint correction. Multi-mode sanders such as the Festool Rotex RO 125 and the Bosch GET75-6N switch between aggressive and fine action.

Sanders / Polishers FAQ

Random orbit, sheet, or belt sander: which do I need?

Start with a random orbit sander. It handles most wood and paint prep. Add a belt sander for heavy stock removal and leveling, and a sheet or detail sander for corners and small parts.

5-inch or 6-inch sander?

A 5" pad is lighter and easier to control on edges and smaller parts. A 6" pad covers more area per pass on tabletops, doors, and floors. Pick one size and stock abrasives to match.

What is a Rotex sander?

Festool Rotex sanders, such as the RO 90, RO 125, and RO 150, switch between a rotary mode for fast removal and polishing and a random orbit mode for fine sanding. That makes them one tool for coarse and finish work.

Do I need dust extraction?

It helps on every sander. Captured dust keeps the abrasive cutting longer, leaves a cleaner surface, and keeps fine dust out of the air. Planex drywall sanders are built to run with an extractor.
