What to Look For
- Tank capacity. A 16-gallon tank goes longer between emptying than a compact vac, at the cost of floor space.
- Bag size. Match bags to tank size. The 906-73-62 bags are made for 15 to 22 gallon vacs.
- Filter style. A cartridge filter handles general dry pickup. A cloth filter bag can be cleaned and reused.
- Wet pickup. Paper dust bags are for dry debris only. Take the bag out before vacuuming liquids.

Do I need a dust bag in my Shop Vac?
No, but it helps with fine dust. A bag catches debris before it reaches the cartridge filter, so the filter clogs less often and emptying the tank is cleaner. Remove the bag for wet jobs.
Which filter should I keep on hand?
Keep a spare cartridge filter element for everyday dry pickup and swap it when suction drops after cleaning. Add the cloth filter bag if you prefer a reusable option you can shake out between jobs.
