I am a painter. I have a client with plaster walls that are uneven, lumpy, and bumpy. He want to repaint but does not want to smooth out all the lumps and bumps. I want to scratch the surface because the old paint has some sheen that needs to be dulled. Can I use these pads to scratch the paint to prep it for new paint? Will they actually scratch the old paint the way a piece of sandpaper would?

Festool's Vlies abrasives are very similar to Scotch Brite pads. It will scuff the surface with minimal impact on the texture with light pressure. Consider also adding an interface pad between the abrasive and the sander's pad for additional cushioning to reduce the likelihood of changing the surface texture. We would recommend that you use the brown Vlies rather than the green is is designed specifically for use with Festool's Surfix oil finishing system.
